RE: Christian Apologetics
My Fellow Believer:
As you know, Christianity is a belief system that requires faith — faith in God and His Word. However, it is also a faith that is supported by logical evidence and based on reality. And yet, when most Christians are asked, they are hard-pressed to present logical, factual reasons for why they believe.
I heard about a little eight-year-old boy named Blake, who went to his mother. He was a very bright boy, He says, “Mom, we believe in Jesus, I understand that. We believe in the Bible and I know we believe in heaven and we believe in God. But I have a question. How do we know it is all true?"
|
His mother was dumbfounded. She replied, “We know because we believe and we know inside that we have this need for God and somehow we just know that it’s true.”
Afterward she felt she hadn’t given Blake an adequately answer, but rationalized that maybe for an eight year boy it was enough.
George Barna, a Christian pollster, did a study of church kids attending secular colleges. He discovered that 80% (4 out of 5 Christian students) abandon their faith by the time they are sophomores. These kids were raised in the church. And yet 60% of them believe the Bible is full of errors.
Apparently parents, Sunday school teachers and youth leaders have not properly equipped this next generation with solid reasons for the validity of the Christian faith. And in many cases, they don’t have the answers either. But there is solid evidence!
Hi, my name is Larry Chapman. I’m a layman who has spent decades studying apologetics for the Christian faith.
Several years ago a Young Life leader came and asked me to help him answer some questions a student had regarding the existence of God and the validity of Jesus’ claims. I scanned my bookshelves and gave him several books I thought would be helpful. After the youth leader left, my wife asked, “How is he ever going to find the time to read all those books and come up with simple, understandable answers for that student?”
As I thought about her comment, I knew she was right. All of the many books in my personal library are really of little help to someone who needs quick, solid, easy-to-understand answers right now. And so, with my wife’s encouragement, I began the process of compiling and summarizing answers from hundreds of sources into a single manuscript. Later, with the help of Bill Bright and Campus Crusade for Christ, that manuscript was transformed into Y-Origins and Y-Jesus magazines.
When you have Y-Origins and Y-Jesus magazines, you won’t have a reason to feel intimated when skeptics question the existence of God, the deity of Christ, or the reliability of the Bible. After you have read the articles, you will know there is substantial scientific, archaeological and historical evidence to support the Christian faith. Just knowing that will make a big psychological difference as you speak with confidence. Better yet, give them the magazines and let them see for themselves what credible scholars are saying.
Have you ever had a child come home and tell you the outrageous statements their teacher or professor made that cause Christianity to seem unreasonable? What did you say in response? After all, they are the academic professionals. But now you can have the answers you need right at your fingertips to demonstrate that Christianity is intellectually sound. It is a faith based on truth and reality revealed to us by our Creator God through His Word, creation and even the discoveries of intellectually honest seekers who have been willing to accept the evidence regardless where it leads.
Wouldn’t it be great to give your high school or college students these magazines so they can know how to ask the right questions in class? Then, not only will their faith remain strong, but they will also help their fellow classmates avoid secular deception.
"Thank you for providing a concise and rational comparative study and analysis of these two very important issues. Now people can see both sides and make a decision based on the facts, gathered from reputable and historically accurate sources. These counterpoints should be included in any intelligent discussion of these most universally asked questions." - Burton "This magazine is beautiful, and we will enjoy reading all the wonderful, factual and scientific information again and again, for it will probably take us a number of readings to process it all!! When we are well informed on a subject then we are well armed to dispel the untruths we are so often told. We hope to share this with our friends or even send them to the website to order their own!" - Bill "I love the magazine. I liked it so much I ordered and gave a copy to several friends and my brother-in-law. He is in school going up against this stuff in Biology class. The wording and layout of the magazine is great. I'm going to read it a second time." - Marc "We are still looking over the magazines and intend to share them with our grandchildren and perhaps others with whom we counsel in our ministry. We appreciate your work and are impressed with the quality of the books." - Joyce "Your two issues are terrific. I just received 10 copies of each and plan to use them in my young adult bible class." - Jim |
• Order a copy so you are equipped to talk with others
• Give them to relatives and/or friends as gifts
• Equip high school and college students for classroom discussion
• Place them in waiting rooms for customers or clients to take home
• Put them into your church or school library
• Use them for Sunday School or Home Groups
It's great for you to have these magazines so you can be informed and have facts available as you talk with others. But you also know people who need them as well.
